Umrah from the UK: visa and document planning

Prepare an Umrah document checklist for British and Pakistani passport holders living in the UK.

Check each traveller individually

Record nationality, passport expiry, UK immigration status and any other visa relied on for eligibility. A Pakistani passport holder living in the UK does not automatically have the same Saudi application route as a British citizen. Start with the official Saudi eligibility process; if it does not establish your route, contact the Saudi authorities or an authorised visa service before buying restrictive travel.

Use the correct permission for the visit

The official Saudi tourist eVisa permits Umrah, excluding Hajj. That does not remove seasonal access controls or applicable permit requirements. Use Nusuk for the relevant pilgrimage and Rawdah arrangements. A tourist visa is not permission to perform Hajj, and an agency flight enquiry does not grant either visa or permit.

Prepare a document checklist

Keep passport, Saudi permission, evidence required for the application route, flight itinerary, accommodation details and applicable health documents together. FCDO guidance for British-citizen passports specifies six months’ passport validity from Saudi arrival. Other passport holders should check the rules applying to them. Check return-to-UK requirements as well.

Check time-sensitive requirements before payment

Health rules, seasonal deadlines and application conditions can change. Consult the current Saudi health and immigration authorities for your travel dates. Do not send passport scans, card details or medical records through the public quote form; arrange an appropriate document-sharing channel if the booking requires them.

How does a Pakistani citizen apply for an Umrah visa from the UK?

First establish the Saudi application route for the traveller’s passport and exact UK status. Prepare the requested evidence, then apply through the official route or a provider authorised for that visa service. Temporary UK residence and permanent residence should not be treated as interchangeable. A British family member’s eligibility does not automatically extend to everyone travelling.

Can I perform Umrah on a Saudi tourist visa?

The official tourist-visa portal includes Umrah and excludes Hajj. Confirm that your visa remains valid for the journey and comply with seasonal entry and permit rules. Arrange any required Nusuk permissions separately; holding a flight booking is not a substitute.

Does every child need a separate document check?

Yes. Check each passport, application and any relevant permit, including infants. Do not assume a parent’s visa covers a child. Use the same names consistently across the application, flights and hotel booking, and clarify consent requirements where a child travels without both parents.
